Spread the Love Food Drive

In partnership with the Markow Family Foundation, Sterling is proud to be hosting our annual Spread the Love food drive in support of Move For Hunger from February 9-23rd.

Working alongside Move For Hunger, Sterling’s Spread the Love initiative focuses on collecting peanut butter and jelly, two of the most requested and most needed items at local food pantries. These simple pantry staples make a big difference in the lives of families facing food insecurity.

Since 2021, our community has come together to raise over 30,000 pounds of food, all generously donated to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, where it supports neighbors in need across the region.

We are grateful for the continued support of the Markow Family Foundation and look forward to growing this effort each year. Join us in spreading the love one jar at a time!

The Foundation engages in a variety of mission-focused events throughout the year. Using the past efforts of the Sterling Companies as a starting point, we work to build our community engagement through alliances with organizations that are similarly focused.

The Foundation Opens its First Holiday Store at the Greenhalge School in Lowell

This season, the Markow Family Foundation was thrilled to introduce a brand-new initiative - our very first Holiday Store at Greenhalge Elementary School, and it quickly became one of the most meaningful moments of the year. Thanks to generous gift donations collected during our holiday party and an extraordinary $1,000 toy donation from Boisvert Electrical, we were able to provide holiday gifts for 40 children, bringing extra joy and festive spirit to families in our community. In addition to launching the Holiday Store, we also continued to participate in their annual Giving Tree program  and were proud to double our sponsorship, expanding support from 10 children to 20 this year. Together, these efforts allowed us to reach more families than ever before during the holiday season. We are incredibly grateful to our partners and supporters for making these initiatives possible, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead.

Supporting Move For Hunger at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon

The Markow Family Foundation is proud to share an inspiring update from Move For Hunger, highlighting the organization’s incredible impact at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. Through the dedication of Team Move For Hunger runners, this year’s marathon helped provide more than 128,000 meals to families facing food insecurity, a remarkable achievement made possible by athletes running with purpose. We are especially proud that Dan Markow, owner of Sterling and the President and Founder of the Foundation, represented Sterling on the Move For Hunger team. We extend our sincere thanks to Move For Hunger for the meaningful work they do year after year, and congratulations to all who ran to make a difference.
